Featured listings & Homepage Spotlight
Show walkers who you are. Add photos, your logo and a source-checked description, then choose a clearly labelled paid placement on the regional, state and walk pages that suit your business, or a larger card on the Aussie Hikers homepage.
Free listings stay free and in their normal order. Paid placements sit in separate, labelled advertising areas. They don't change the free listings, the official track facts or the grades, and they don't imply that Aussie Hikers endorses or recommends you.
Who this is for
- Licensed tour operators and guided-walk companies
- Multi-day walk and lodge-based walking experiences
- Outdoor gear shops and hire businesses
- Bushwalking clubs and hiking groups
- Accommodation and transport near trailheads (cabins, campgrounds, shuttles)
About the directory
Aussie Hikers is an independent directory of Australian walking tracks, guided walks and hiking groups. Walkers can browse by state, region, grade and time available, and every walk links back to its official park-agency source. Practical guides cover gear, permits, safety and hiking with kids. Aussie Hikers is published by Compass Point Digital. It doesn't sell tours or take bookings, and it doesn't rate operator safety or quality.
Choose your placement
All three paid options give you a visual way to introduce your business. Featured and Homepage Spotlight both need at least one photo or logo. A free listing never needs one.
Featured — A$29/month + GST
Founding rate, locked for 12 months.
- Priority placement: a separate Featured block above the free listings on agreed state and region pages.
- Clear badge: "Featured · Sponsored". This identifies advertising, not endorsement.
- Photos: your logo plus up to 3 photos of your walks, guides, lodge or shop. You must hold the rights to every image, and anyone shown must have consented.
- Optional factual blurb: a short description drawn from your public website and checked against it.
- Profile and links: a link to your listing, plus approved website, booking and contact links.
- Matching walk pages: a "Guided options for this walk" card on agreed walk pages that you actually operate on, or that your business genuinely serves (for example, a shuttle or accommodation for that track).
- Simple monthly note: profile views and outbound clicks, when tracking is available. Figures are informational only, and volumes aren't guaranteed.
Homepage Spotlight — A$79/month + GST
Founding rate, locked for 12 months. Includes everything in Featured, plus:
- A paid homepage card under your state or territory.
- Limited spots: a maximum of 3 businesses per state or territory, and up to 24 Australia-wide. These are capacity limits, so confirm current availability when you enquire.
- Larger visual treatment: a hero-image card, bigger than the Featured card.
- Optional video: up to 60 seconds showing your walks or business. Footage must be real and recent, with no unsupported claims.
- A stronger call to action and an optional quarterly performance note. Reporting is informational and carries no guarantees.
- Clear advertising label: "Sponsored · Paid placement".
Bundle — Featured + Homepage Spotlight — A$99/month + GST
Founding rates and the 12-month rate lock
Featured is A$29/month + GST, Homepage Spotlight is A$79/month + GST, and the Bundle is A$99/month + GST. All three are founding rates. Each monthly rate is locked for the first 12 months from the agreed start date. The rate lock covers the monthly price only. It doesn't set a minimum contract term.
Before any paid arrangement begins, we confirm in writing the agreed pages, placement dates, approved photos and copy, GST treatment, billing, cancellation and refund terms. An enquiry doesn't reserve a spot or start any charge. No payment is taken on this page.
Free listings remain available
Free listings and corrections stay free. You don't need photos or video for a free listing. Paying for placement doesn't change the free listings' order, the inclusion standards, the official track facts or the grades. We never relabel a free listing as paid without a separate written agreement.
Sponsored labelling rules
- Every paid placement carries a visible "Sponsored" label next to the business name. Featured cards say "Featured · Sponsored", and Spotlight cards say "Sponsored · Paid placement".
- Paid cards sit in their own boxed area, headed "Sponsored listings" or "Guided options (sponsored)", and are never mixed into the free list.
- Track facts on walk pages (distance, grade, fees, closures, dogs) come only from the official agency. Advertisers can't edit them.
- Sponsored copy never says or implies "recommended by Aussie Hikers", "safest", "best" or "official".
- Outbound links in paid cards use
rel="sponsored noopener". - Affiliate links are labelled separately. Any affiliate relationship will be disclosed beside the relevant link.
Advertising and media standards
- Factual information only: copy must be accurate, supported by your public information, and about the walks or services you actually offer.
- Licences and permits: if you operate commercially in national parks, you must hold the licence or permit the relevant agency requires. A paid badge doesn't confirm that you do.
- No safety guarantees: no claims that a walk is "safe", "suitable for everyone" or "risk-free", and no promises about weather, wildlife or outcomes.
- Reviews: only genuine, verifiable reviews, with a link to their source. Nothing selectively edited or incentivised without disclosure.
- Media rights: you must hold the rights to all photos and video, and anyone shown must have consented. No drone footage taken where drones are prohibited.
- Respect for Country: no imagery of, or claims about, culturally restricted sites. That includes climbing or photographing places where Traditional Owners ask visitors not to.
- Advertiser responsibility: you're responsible for complying with Australian Consumer Law and the AANA Code of Ethics.
We don't promise search rankings, bookings or enquiry volume. Placement notes don't guarantee future traffic, clicks or return. Payment buys the agreed advertising placement, not endorsement.
We review your authority to represent the business, plus your proposed copy and media, before anything is published. We may decline or remove unsupported, misleading or unauthorised material.
